It’s not every day you find yourself making coffee for a four-time Grand Tour winner, however, a recent visit to SCICON HQ in Bassano del Grappa by Vincenzo Nibali saw the team doing just that. Nibali dropped by the ASG International Italian headquarters, home to SCICON and its production factory, to take a look at some of the exciting new products in the pipeline ahead of his off-season holidays.
The Bahrain Merida Pro Cycling Team has been supported by SCICON for two seasons now, with Nibali receiving his own custom range of AeroComfort 3.0 bags and Race Rain Bags with his customary ‘shark’ logo making an appearance.
Having won the Tour de France in 2014, as well as two Giro d’Italia crowns and one Vuelta a España title, Nibali suffered the misfortune of crashing out of this year’s Tour de France fracturing a vertebrae in the process. His season was not one without highlights though as the ‘shark from Messina’ soloed to an impressive victory at Milan Sanremo in March before taking second at Il Lombardia late in the season, the final Monument race of the year.
Nibali, dressed down in casual clothes showing the relaxed side that is not often seen when pro riders are in the throws of a hectic international race calendar, spent time looking around the SCICON office and factory before meeting the founders of the ASG Group. He finished off with a signing session before bidding farewell to the team and heading off to not think about the bike for a few weeks and resetting the system ahead of 2019 once again in the colours Bahrain Merida.
