SCICON Globe Trotting at the Giro d’Italia

Friday 4 May sees a first for professional cycling, with the first Grand Tour to start outside of Europe, but one thing that hasn’t changed is the commitment from professional teams to travel with Scicon Bags.

In total, nine of the 22 teams starting the 101st Giro d’Italia in Jerusalem head to the race with their bikes safely transported in their representative Scicon AeroComfort 3.0 TSA bike travel bags. This year’s race covers 3,546.2km from its start in Israel until the end of the 21st stage in Rome three weeks later. After three stages in the Middle Eastern country, the traveling continues as the race moves to Sicily before finally reaching mainland Italy on stage 7. With most of the teams and their equipment having flown into Israel on Tuesday ahead of the race, the Scicon Bags played a vital role in each team’s organisation. Aside from the traveling, there’s some serious racing to be tackled. With tough stages already in the first week, including the race’s first uphill finish on stage 6 atop Mount Etna. As ever, the Italian tour takes in a range of parcours each week, but the hardest is saved until last with three back-to-back mountain-top finishes before the final procession into the Italian capital on Sunday 27 May where the new Maglia Rosa will be decided.
