Bahrain Merida Pro Cycling continues its travels with SCICON Bags in 2018
The Bahrain Merida Pro Cycling team is to continue its journey with Scicon Bags through 2018, with both riders’ and staff’s needs being facilitated by the comprehensive range of SCICON products, each specifically designed to serve a purpose, suited to the needs of its owner.
Reflecting its mantra of ‘The Power of Red’, the team’s range of custom Scicon Bags, ranging from the AeroComfort ROAD 3.0 bike travel bags, to the team’s red Soigneur Bags and Race Rain Bags certainly turned heads last season, and these are set to make a return this year with SCICON continuing as Official Team Supplier of the WorldTour outfit.
The Bahrain Merida Pro Cycling team formed in 2017, bringing together a strong roster of riders including Vincenzo Nibali, Sonny Colbrelli and Giovanni Visconti, between whom the team scored eight of its 12 victories. Nibali, one of the world’s strongest Grand Tour contenders, finished third at the Giro d’Italia, taking a stage win along the way, and followed this up with second place at the Vuelta a España. Nibali and the team will be looking to turn these podiums into Grand Tour victories this year, and SCICON will be there to support their needs along the way.
“We’re pleased to continue working alongside SCICON again this season as they’re a brand that really understand the needs of pro riders and a cycling team. With all of the travel for training and racing throughout the season, we need simple yet trustworthy solutions for our equipment and the Scicon AeroComfort bike bags are just that. Then, with all the custom technical bags for our riders and staff, we have every angle covered”.
GORAZD STANGELJ, Head Sports Director
“Last year we created a truly striking bag design across all the technical bags that Team Bahrain Merida utilized, from the AeroComfort 3.0 bags, to the Scicon Race Rain Bags and staff bags too,” explained Scicon Bags Brand Manager, Christian Pearce. “Having riders like Vincenzo Nibali not only representing the SCICON brand around the world, but also helping us to refine and develop our product range for future generations is a huge asset and one that helps us strive to stay ahead”.
Bahrain Merida Pro Cycling Team got the season off to a strong start at the Tour Down Under, where Gorka Izaguirre placed 7th overall, while across the world, teammate Kanstantsin Siutsou finished 9th on GC at the Vuelta a San Juan in Argentina. From there it was a quick turnaround to head to the UAE for the Dubai Tour before bike bags are packed, and riders and equipment flown back to Europe for the start of the season in the Northern Hemisphere where the Spring Classics await. Scicon Bags wishes the team, both riders and staff, all the best for what will hopefully be a successful year ahead.
