Scicon Bags enters BMC Mountain Bike Racing Team partnership
The international BMC MTB Racing Team becomes Scicon Bags’ first off-road team sponsorship announcement of the season, as the Swiss-registered outfit gets set to join the growing list of athletes that travel with Scicon.
The riders will have the reassurance that their BMC race and training bikes will be well looked after as they travel the world, safely packed away in their fleet of Scicon AeroComfort 3.0 TSA MTB Bike Travel Bags.
Making a guest appearance will be BMC ambassadors Cadel Evans and George Hincapie, both cycling legends in their own right, as the two tackle the upcoming Absa Cape Epic in South Africa, a Scicon Bags partnered event. Evans and Hincapie will line-up against some of the world’s best MTB marathon riders, and will be supported in their travels with the new Scicon AeroComfort 3.0 MTB Bike Travel Bags.
Racing the Cape Epic means a lot of training but a lot of logistics too. I’m really happy I can count on quality bike bags to get my BMC Fourstroke safely to South Africa. The bags will also help me bringing my bike to every place I have the chance to visit as an ambassador for BMC Switzerland.
Cadel Evans, BMC Ambassador, told us
Having recently launched the new AeroComfort 3.0 MTB Bike Travel Bags, it’s a great step forward for Scicon to have the team using the bags and representing the Scicon brand at the top level of mountain biking. As well as some of the world’s best MTB riders, we’ll also have two legends of the road, Cadel Evans and George Hincapie, using Scicon Bags at the upcoming Absa Cape Epic. The partnership is the next step forward in our collaboration with BMC having already partnered with the Etixx-BMC Powered by Uplace triathlon team, and we’re looking forward to working with the riders and staff over the season.
Said Christian Pearce, Scicon Bags Brand Manager
The BMC MTB Racing Team consists of five riders from two different countries, with a race calendar focused on the World Cup series, the European and World Championships as well as the Swiss and French Cups. Amongst the riders is current French and European champion, and former Olympic champion Julien Absalon who last year took three rounds as well as the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup overall classification.
Racing my bike is my first passion. Riding it all over the world is another one. It’s important for me to know that my bike is travelling safe and can get to the final destination without a scratch.
Explained Julien Absalon
The team sponsorship is an extension of the links between BMC and Scicon Bags, with the Etixx-BMC Powered by Uplace triathlon team also travelling with a range of technical Scicon Bags, including the Scicon AeroComfort 3.0 TSA Triathlon Bike Travel Bag.
