#GOINGPLACES – XPDTN3 PUSHING LIMITS AROUND LAKE TAHOE
The stunning travels of the XPDTN3 team continue with another trip to the United States, tackling the off-roads that circle Lake Tahoe, Sierra Nevada.
Circumnavigating Lake Tahoe, the Rim Trail entails a mixture of off- and on-road riding around the deep blue lake water. With gravel tracks more suited to the wider tires and suspension of a mountain bike, the riding was a real test for the more nimble 3T Exploro gravel bikes. With a greater need for precise line choices, the trails often required full attention through an entrancing series of unique obstacles and rocky corridors of granite.
We spent the first hours of the day figuring out how best to combine our mountain bike skills with the speedy efficiency of a carbon gravel bike that specializes in going slow faster.
Throwing in some exciting night riding amongst the three days of riding, trying to cover as much of the trails as possible in the time they had, the team covered an impressive 147 miles – no injuries, no mechanicals, no flats, all on drop-bar bikes. After packing up their bikes into their custom XPDTN3 Scicon Bags, it was time to head home and plan the next adventure.
The XPDTN3 Team explorers use custom AeroComfort 3.0 TSA bike bags with thru-axle mounts to keep their bikes safe on their travels. #BringYourBike
