#GoingPlaces – Laurel Wassner escapes New York for an upstate adventure
The first ever cancer survivor to become a professional triathlete then to qualify for the Ironman World Championships (2015), Laurel Wassner has never been one to hang around in her comfort zone. A proud ambassador of Scicon Bags, keeping her beloved bikes safe as she travels the globe racing against the world’s best, Laurel is also a photographer and a publisher of the popular food blog athletefood.com.
She recently packed her Argon 18 bike away into her Scicon Aerocomfort Triathlon Bike Travel Bag and hopped on the train to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city for an upstate adventure. Bound for the country roads with kilometer upon kilometer to explore stretching out in front of her, Laurel took her camera along for the ride to share her time out on the road with us.
It’s something a lot of people don’t realize you can do. We checked out the various Strava segments in the area and based our route off of that so we had some extra challenges along the way. We also unexpectedly came across an ice cream stand which made for the perfect mid-ride break.
Laurel always uses her Scicon Aerocomfort Triathlon Bike Travel Bag when travelling by plane, train or car.SHOP NOW
