#GoingPlaces – An XPDTN3 weekend in Reykjavik
The latest travels from the collective of explorers on two-wheels that is XPDTN3 saw Marc Gasch head over to Reykjavik, Iceland, together with Rene Wiertz, Marcel Batlle and friends on another 3-day adventure.
With the plan being to cover a long weekend of gravel roads on the most sparsely populated country in Europe, the ride ticked all the boxes required – no traffic, fresh trails, a test of bike handling and, of course some stunning scenery. And it threw in some unexpected surprises too, including dry lava rivers, a few funny crashes and a change of ride nutrition on the way.
Almost at the point of the Reykjavik peninsula we decided it was time for a quick food stop, but after failing to find a good place for a sandwich, Benedikt and Bergur told us ice-cream was one of the most popular foods in Iceland, even in the winter.
The XPDTN3 Team explorers use custom AeroComfort 2.0 TSA bike bags with thru-axle mounts.
