Exceptional Organization: Etixx – Quick-Step on the Scicon Race Rain Bag
The greatest timesaving piece of tech during the 2016 road cycling season wasn’t the latest electronic gearing system or integrated power meter or super lightweight carbon wheels, it was the Scicon Race Rain Bag. Designed in collaboration with Scicon-sponsored pro cycling teams including Etixx – Quick-Step to help riders and mechanics work together during races and achieve those ‘marginal gains’ by organizing and locating spare kit in the back of the team cars during races.
Tony Martin explains-
With each race rain bag in the correct car, with all the kit in its designated pocket and all the race rain bags individually personalised with the riders’ names, mechanics need no longer rumage around the boot looking for the right set of arm warmers or rain jacket in the right size for the right rider.
It’s really well organized, it’s easy for the mechanic- it’s a pretty nice product.
The Race Rain Bag has a total of six compartments- a pocket for shoes and added a mesh pocket within this part for socks and shoe covers, a pocket on the opposite side for dirty clothing with a full mesh covering, and 4 lateral pockets including one for the jersey and shorts, one for arm and leg warmers, one for gloves and one for the jacket and vest.
Zdeněk Štybar talks through the different compartments and what goes in them-
For the average cyclist who doesn’t have a team car and mechanic at the ready when the weather turns sour it’s just a great way to ensure you never show up at a ride or race having forgotten something and you’ll look like a pro as you pull your rain jacket out of this bag while your buddies are fumbling with their old rucksacks.
