60-Second Interview with UplaceBMC Triathlete Liz Blatchford

Liz Blatchford knows how to make an entrance. In her very first Ironman Hawaii, she ran straight to a spot on the podium. Her third place in Kona, only her third Ironman, capped a great 2013 and Liz’ first full year as a long distance triathlete

The Australian athete with British roots made the move to long distance racing after a successful career in the Olympic distance, with World Cup wins dating back to 2003. Right now, she is focused on becoming even stronger as an Ironman athlete:

I am still trying to gain strength on the bike. It has gotten better, but it is something I still need work on, especially the final 50 km on the bike.

Liz’ 2014 got to a great start with a win in the Husky Long Course triathlon and podium spots in the Ironman 70.3 Putrajaya and the Mallorca 70.3. In June, she successfully defended her Ironman Cairns title.
