60-Second Interview with Triathlete Alessandro Degasperi
Alessandro Degasperi AKA ‘Il Dega’ from Predazzo in the Italian Dolomites is a top Italian long-distance triathlete having won IM Lanzarote 2015, IM Salzburg 70.3 2012. alongside numerous other podium positions over the last few years including 3 times at European 70.3 Championships.
We manage to grab 60 seconds of his time before he heads across to Kona for the IRONMAN World Championships 2016 to ask him some quick-fire questions.
Biggest fear? I think like most people- to lose loved ones.
Greatest obstacle? Time… it’s the thing that limits me the most and that I sometimes find hard to manage.
Superstitions? I’m not very superstitious, but I no longer write down the dates of my races in my calendar beforehand. This is because when I’ve done this in the past, those races written down haven’t ended as well as I’d have hoped.
Biggest achievement? I would say my Ironman victory in Lanzarote last year
Favourite cycling destination? There are many places I like to ride, but when the weather is nice, my favorite is definitely the Sella Ronda in the Italian Dolomites!
Favourite song to work out to? When I train I do not listen to music never because I like to have much more time to think, or to chat if I’m in good company.
Spirit animal? I don’t know, but my wife suggests ‘lion’ … I don’t know if that’s because I’m quite ‘managerial’, or because I leave to my wife the task of getting some food (cooking) and of taking care of our house and kid (our little Luca).
Good luck charm? I don’t have a good luck charm per se by I do have a specific pre-race routine and I like to think that my family cheering me on at races brings me luck!
One thing nobody knows? Yet to be found out!
Never have I ever… proposed to my wife!
Best thing about having a Scicon bike bag? I know that why I carry in it is safe.
Alessando travels around the world, from race-to-race with Scicon bike bags and cases inlcuding the AeroComfort 2.0 Triathlon, AeroComfort 2.0 TSA and AeroTech Evolution TSA depending on which bike(s) he’s flying with and how far he’s travelling.
