60-Second Interview with Jens Voigt
With a record 17 Tour de France starts under his belt, including two stage wins, Voigt is known for his aggressive riding style that includes gutsy moves.
The 42-year-old has been a fixture in the peloton since the late 1990s and seen the sport of cycling go through a number of scandals and transformations during his time at teams such as GAN, CSC, Leopard Trek and Trek Factory Racing. Jens is not only known for his solo breakaways (including a 62- mile stretch leading to a stage win at the Pro Challenge in 2012) but is also widely regarded as bike racing’s most quotable rider.
His most notable meme of course being “Shut up, legs!” The Jensie took the time out of his busy new coaching schedule to discuss favourite cycling desinations, lucky charms and stretching (or lack of) with us!

Biggest fear? Not being able to keep up to the people’s expectations.
Greatest obstacle? Self-doubt and overthinking things.
Superstitions? Always put the right-sided race number on first, always.
Biggest achievement? My long career and winning the support and love of the fans.
Favourite cycling destination? That’s a tough one… Australia, South Africa, USA, Canada, many parts of Europe. I have seen some spectacular landscapes and it’s impossible to pick one over the other.
Favourite song to work out to? A classic would of course be ‘Eye of the Tiger’ by Survivor
Spirit animal? I would pick Wolf.
Good luck charm? I’ve been given different lucky charms like little angel ornaments and coins from fans and they did a pretty good job for me!
One thing nobody knows? As a child I always wanted to become a wildlife documentary-maker filming lions in the Serengeti.
Never have I ever… done stretching in my life.
Best thing about having a Scicon bike bag? It’s easy to roll along behind you and it’s pretty strong protection
Jens uses the AeroComfort 2.0 TSA. For more info on this bag click here.
